Professor Qiang He spoke with WBIR Channel 10 News for a story called “Sevierville Traffic May Be Hurting Your Lungs.” It’s based on an air quality report “Trouble in the Air,” which revealed that Sevierville had the most number of bad air quality days in the state of Tennessee in 2020.
He says that the air quality is connected to the amount of traffic that comes through Sevierville and notes that nitrogen oxides from car exhaust interacts with volatile organic compounds in the air to create the ozone that is dangerous to breathe.
