Cox Honored by ASCE Knoxville Branch

Chris Cox.Chris Cox, department head and Robert M. Condra professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, received the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Knoxville Branch’s Daryl Armentrout Award for Distinguished Service this summer.

Cox was honored for his efforts in developing the Bachelor of Science degree in environmental engineering at UT, and for hosting’s ASCE’s National Civil Engineering Department Head’s Conference in 2024.

The award is named after Daryl R. Armentrout (BS/CEE ’65, PhD/CEE ’81), a member of the CEE Hall of Fame. Armentrout had a 45-year career with the Tennessee Valley Authority while also serving as an adjunct lecturer in CEE with a focus on professional engineering practice.
