Associate Department Head of Undergraduate Studies and Professor Chris Cherry was quoted in a recent WBIR news story titled “Improperly parked scooters affect people with disabilities.”
Cherry provided his transportation engineering expertise on the subject of the scooters, which have only been in Knoxville since the spring and have been parked in ways that block sidewalks and building entrances.
“You have to have rules that are intuitive, and that the user wants to follow. Some of the best practices in cities around the country are making parking clearly delineated on the road and making it very clear where parking should be,” he said.
