Congratulations to this year’s UTK ASCE Student Chapter for earning a respectable 7th place overall out of 26 schools competing in the ASCE Student Conference held in Gainesville, Florida. The students had a fun time preparing and competing in this annual event.
Matt Lyons, the UTK ASCE Chapter president said, “I am extremely proud of how well our chapter performed. The lessons learned, knowledge gained, and friendships made will make our chapter better than ever as we are excited to host conference next year and we set our sights on new goals for the 2018-2019 school year.”
CEE lecturer and faculty advisor to the student chapter, Jenny Retherford saw that the students learned much from the competition. “This year’s UTK ASCE Chapter successfully participated in a series of competitions that tested their resourcefulness, engineering fundamentals, and teamwork,” she said. “Ultimately, students left the conference aware of many more lessons than they likely entered the weekend.”
