Date: Thursday, January 18
Time: 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Location: 405 John D. Tickle Building
Our graduate seminar on January 18, 2018, will be Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition held at 3:30 in room 405 JDT. This is intended to be a fun event to celebrate research within the department with food and prizes. A 3MT completion requires you to present your PhD dissertation topic in three minutes, in everyday language, with one PowerPoint slide. Participating will help you develop skills to present the findings and importance of your research in an impactful way that is easily understood. This is a very important skill!
Official Participants: PhD students who have been admitted to candidacy, but who have not graduated. Please participate! The winner from this group will be eligible to advance to the University 3MT competition and will receive $50 in merchandise from the VolShop or VolTech.
Unofficial Participants: Pre-candidacy PhD students and MS thesis students. You are not eligible to advance, but we would still like to hear about your research. Winner will receive $25 in merchandise from the VolShop or VolTech. First-come, first-served on the sign-up sheet, space permitting.
Pointers: There are many pointers for success in a 3MT competition at the link above.
