The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering mourns the passing of Professor Bill Miller, who served as a faculty member in the department and later as the associate dean of the college until his retirement in 2000.
“Those of us who were fortunate enough to know him will remember him as a good natured colleague who always had the interests of students first in his mind,” said Department Head Chris Cox.
Professor Lee Han remembered Bill as being knowledgeable, funny, a good letter writer, and someone who always had a kind smile and a heart for adventures, near and far.
“He didn’t mind my asking all sorts of questions about various stuff he collected over a long career randomly on display in his office, including a photo he took during his European tour after WWII,” said Han, referring to the above photo. “I used that photo many times in several of my lectures on civil engineering and transportation.”
